“You’re a real-time real estate renegade there, Jim Bob,” she says. “An arbiter of accuracy. A phenom of fresh listings. A master of mortgage rates. A ruler of refinancing. An emperor of escrow. Jim, let’s live in that house together.”
While director Savage is best known for playing Kevin Arnold on “The Wonder Years,” and will appear in the new FOX show “Grinder,” he has many TV directing credits to his name, including “Modern Family,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “The Wizards of Waverly Place.”

LOS ANGELES — Everyone warned Elizabeth Banks against filming the outdoor concert finale for “Pitch Perfect 2.” It was June in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was scorching hot, it was hurricane season, and they would have to build a full, functioning stage and recruit a small town of extras to make it believable.

But Banks knew what she wanted.

“I kept saying, ‘I don’t care, it’s going to look cool, we’ve got to do it’,” said the actress, producer, and now, feature director.

It took nearly a month to build the Glastonbury Festival-inspired stage. As for the extras, the production sent out an open invitation casting call to fans of “Pitch Perfect.”

Over 3,000 people showed up.

After producing the surprise smash original — and playing more than 70 different characters — the star of ‘Hunger Games’ now hungers for something else: a place among Hollywood’s most exclusive club — female directors. Says Banks: “This is the test. And I like to get A’s.”

The cast and crew of Pitch Perfect 2 are waiting to shoot a musical sequence in which Anna Kendrick and the rapper (once again) known as Snoop Dogg sing a Christmas duet. Except it’s July. And it’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana. And it’s 93 degrees. Kendrick’s makeup is melting off her face. Dogg is practically panting. A crewmember gives the ancient air-conditioner unit a whack, but it just keeps sputtering warm air.

What if you had the power to change your life just by saying thank you? It sounds pretty elementary for such a monumental shift — but that’s what gratitude can do, according to director and Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks.

Banks spoke on the American Greetings gratitude panel Tuesday night, where she explained how the simple act has made a big difference in her own world. The panel was inspired by the company’s ThankList initiative, which is designed to encourage people to express thanks for the people and experiences who have shaped their lives.

“It’s one thing to think about someone or something that means something to you, but you have to actually say it,” Banks said. “You can’t just keep it inside. Write it down, let that person know — because really what this is all about is connectivity and the connectedness that we’re all wanting.”

Moderated by HuffPost President and Editor-in-Chief Arianna Huffington, the panel also included Oscar award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple, wellness expert Deepak Chopra, psychologist Randy Kamen and motivational speaker Gabrielle Bernstein. The experts discussed who they’re thankful for and other unexpected sources of gratitude they’ve experienced in their own lives.
