Elizabeth Banks Vaultyour #1 fansite for actress Elizabeth Banks

“Everybody is dying for something,” Elizabeth Banks laughs when our conversation moves to Pitch Perfect 2. The actress may be promoting her upcoming comedy, Walk of Shame, co-starring James Marsden but we couldn’t help but to ask about the upcoming sequel to the sleeper hit, which she’s currently shooting in Louisiana.

“They’re all graduating seniors,” Banks says of the film’s stars, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Both played freshmen who join the Barden Bellas and eventually take the all-female a cappella group to national championship.

Banks also confirms that John Michael Higgins will be returning. Higgins hilariously played one of the ICCAs commentators alongside Banks’ Gail Abernathy-McKadden. “We will see a little more of Gail and John and delve into their dynamic,” Banks says before teasing the potential for more of Gail’s back-story. “You’re going to learn more about why she has three last names.”

Even though Gail was in the a cappella collegiate group, Menstrual Cycles, Banks says she will not be singing in the sequel. It’s a shame because that truly would have been aca-awesome.

Walk of Shame debuts in theaters nationwide on May 2.

Elizabeth Banks has said that playing Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games movies has been one of the best experiences of her career.

The actress reprises her role as the District 12 chaperone in the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which sees Katniss increasingly at odds with her overlords.

Banks has now revealed that she takes a lot of joy from playing the eccentrically-dressed Effie in the popular movie series.

“I love Effie,” she told Extra. “She’s one of my favourite characters that I’ve ever played. She’s just an incredible character.”

Banks added that the cast and crew of the Hunger Games films get their share of laughs out of Effie’s increasingly bizarre attire as well.

“I really like the transformation. I like disappearing into her,” she explained.

The star continued: “I love that sort of ‘A-ha moment’ every morning when I’m sort of gone and in the mirror is Effie.

“She’s one of the best characters that I’ve ever brought to a set. Everybody gets excited when Effie shows up on set.”

Banks recently paid tribute to her late Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman, saying: “[Philip was] an incredible actor. Everybody respected him. I really enjoyed my time with him.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 opens on November 21.
