Elizabeth Banks Vaultyour #1 fansite for actress Elizabeth Banks

There are walks of shame and then there are epic shame Odysseys like the one Elizabeth banks goes on in her upcoming movie.

In the new red band trailer for Banks’ comedy “Walk of Shame,” the 4o-year-old actress plays TV reporter Meghan Miles, who finds herself stranded without a car or purse at the house of one-night hookup Gordon, played by James Marsden.

Things get steamy with Gordon when the usually mild-mannered Meghan gets rejected for a promotion. But of course, just as Meghan is at her most disheveled, she gets a message that she can have another shot at the position.

Meghan must find her way back to the studio in order to have a shot at her dream job. And what’s stopping her? Oh, only some clueless cops, some thugs and various hapless L.A. citizens who mistake Banks for a prostitute.

She stars in this month’s Walk of Shame, but Elizabeth Banks is also (deep breath) a producer, a blogger, a mother of two, and soon, a major-movie director. Glamour‘s Cindi Leive hit her up for career-success secrets!

The first time I met Elizabeth Banks, she had barbecue sauce all over her face and was making a pass at Paul Rudd. (Don’t judge! It was on the set of her first major film, Wet Hot American Summer. And since then? Well:wow. She’s played some fabulously out-there women, including Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games and ambitious TV anchor Avery Jessup on 30 Rock. She’s produced movies, including the 2012 girl-tastic hit Pitch Perfect, through Brownstone Productions, the company she founded with her husband, Max Handelman. (She appeared in Pitch Perfect too and is directing the sequel.) And the 40-year-old balances all that with raising two kids—Felix, three, and Magnus, one and a half—and managing her popular website, elizabethbanks.com. I sat down with the mogul herself to get her best words of wisdom on killing it careerwise.

Cindi Leive: We met in 2000. That’s a lot of hairstyles ago.
Elizabeth Banks: My hair has not changed one bit! [Laughs.]

Elizabeth Banks has said that playing Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games movies has been one of the best experiences of her career.

The actress reprises her role as the District 12 chaperone in the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which sees Katniss increasingly at odds with her overlords.

Banks has now revealed that she takes a lot of joy from playing the eccentrically-dressed Effie in the popular movie series.

“I love Effie,” she told Extra. “She’s one of my favourite characters that I’ve ever played. She’s just an incredible character.”

Banks added that the cast and crew of the Hunger Games films get their share of laughs out of Effie’s increasingly bizarre attire as well.

“I really like the transformation. I like disappearing into her,” she explained.

The star continued: “I love that sort of ‘A-ha moment’ every morning when I’m sort of gone and in the mirror is Effie.

“She’s one of the best characters that I’ve ever brought to a set. Everybody gets excited when Effie shows up on set.”

Banks recently paid tribute to her late Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman, saying: “[Philip was] an incredible actor. Everybody respected him. I really enjoyed my time with him.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 opens on November 21.

Elizabeth Banks‘s penchant for comedy may already be rubbing off on her two sons, Felix, 2½, and Magnus Mitchell,15 months.

“They make me laugh constantly,” the actress, 40, told PEOPLE at the launch of the Listerine 21-Day Challenge in Los Angeles on Thursday. “Everything they do is funny, literally. They’re two little clowns. All they do is make me laugh!”

When they’re not busy joking around, Banks loves taking her sons to local museums.

“They love cars and trains and trucks, so we’re big on thePetersen Automotive Museum and also Travel Town [Museum]here in Los Angeles,” she says.

But just as important is playing out in the California sunshine.

“I love to get them outside, running and climbing and jumping, and developing those big motor skills,” says Banks.

Those aren’t the only skills they’re working on. “They’re very good teeth-brushers!” says The Hunger Gamesstar. “My youngest son really loves sucking the water out of the toothbrush, [and] we just started flossing the older one, which is a bit more of a challenge. If you get him in the right mood he kind of likes it!”

As for balancing her career and motherhood, Banks admits, “you just need to build a village. I have a great husband and I have great help.”

Ultimately, she hopes her dedication to her career will serve as an example for her sons.

“They’re my first priority every morning when I wake up, but I also think it’s important to provide a role model who loves her work and is a leader in her life.”

Still can’t believe I was able to interview the biggest badass of them all, Morgan Freeman. What happens now? Is the show over? I don’t know if I can top this one.

If there’s one thing I learned from this Ask A Badass interview, it’s that Chris Pratt definitely should have been in Gravity.
